French Door Refrigerator With Ice Maker Review

French-door fridges combine design and function. They feature elegant double doors that open to reveal the large fridge on top and a freezer drawer below. Special features like through-the-door dispensers, high-end ice machines and adjustable flex drawers make them stand out from the crowd.

We asked Ladina Schopf - interior designer, architect and founder of LS Projects - for her advice on how to choose the best one. They looked at the storage capacity, layout, and energy efficiency among other aspects.

GE Profile Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The name implies that GE's Profile series is geared towards those who want to incorporate cutting-edge technologies into their kitchen. This refrigerator has it all, from the Keurig K cup coffee maker inside the door to a smart dispenser of water. But these flourishes don't mask mediocre performance, especially in the refrigerator's freezer and an ineffective temperature-controlled drawer. This refrigerator is costly and I was expecting better.

Aside from that blip however, this refrigerator is a great choice. It boasts a spacious freezer compartment, which is quite uncommon in counter-depth French door fridges, and it holds a good amount of frozen food as compared to similar models.

The fridge comes with 17 shelves and compartments. The fridge compartment offers 18.5 cubic feet of space, which is about what you would expect from a French door fridge costing this much. It has a decent-sized freezer in the left side. However it's not the most spacious one I've seen.

You can adjust the shelves in both compartments to create a the perfect storage solution. The interior design of the GE PYE22PYNFS is good-looking, too. The LED lighting is an attractive accent. The storage bins in the door have a third shelf which can be folded down to store tall objects. The drawers have temperature controls so that you can set them to Beverage, Meat or Deli settings. They're easy to open and close, although I found their plastic textured coatings to be a little hard on the fingers.

The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator includes the complete set of features you'd expect from a refrigerator at this price with Wi-Fi and app support through GE's SmartHQ software. The app is available on iOS and Android devices and allows you to control your refrigerator from any place across the globe. It also offers a lot of customization options. It also alerts you when a door is left open, when your fridge or freezer needs to be defrosted and when it's time to change the filter.

It would be great if GE PYE22PYNFS offered Precise fill, an option found in a few GE refrigerators that allows users to select the amount of cups they wish to dispense. The fridge shows a countdown to reveal how much water remains but it's not as effective as Precise fill.

Bosch Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The Bosch French-door Refrigerator is a stunning piece of equipment. It's designed to appear like it's a seamless component in your kitchen. The fridge uses fingerprint-resistant stainless steel, which is a great feature for busy households. It also has a veggie compartment that keeps fruits and vegetables fresher for longer periods, and dual compressors to preserve food. The ice maker we tested is one of the most efficient and produces the shape of a pyramid using only water. This fridge is the perfect option for a single family or kitchenettes who want a sleek design and top-of-the-line food preservation.

This refrigerator was rated as the best in our Refrigerators Test due to a variety of reasons. The freezer temperature remained steady at just above 0°F and never changed more than a tiny fraction - this is essential to avoid freezing burn. The fridge's refrigerator section also performed well, reaching the desired initial set temperature within a matter of hours and keeping that temperature steady over the course of our testing.

Bosch is known for its top-quality appliances. Therefore, it's not a surprise that Bosch's counter depth fridge Bosch counter depth refrigerator can be connected to your home Wi Fi and Bosch's Home Connect. This app allows you to monitor and control your fridge from your smartphone or tablet. The refrigerator is costly however, it offers excellent features and functions at a reasonable cost.

It is important to know the limitations of the fridge. You may need to get creative with tall items because the fridge has a small shelf space. The shelves aren't impervious to spills and could easily be stained or damaged by sharp items. The trays can be easily removed from the refrigerator. However, they should be cleaned frequently to stop the growth of mold.

LG Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The LG LRFLC2706S counter-depth fridge is a great choice for those who need plenty of space in a small frame. It has a sleek, fingerprint-resistant stainless-steel finish and features thick handles that make them comfortable to grip. Inside, the refrigerator has the standard French-door layout, with gallon-sized bins for the doors on each door as well as two rows of spill-capture shelves, and a set of more spacious drawers. The top shelf on the right side can be folded in order to create more space for tall items. You'll also find a full-width deli drawer and an internal water dispenser.

This refrigerator has a freezer with an ice maker, making it simple to transfer frozen ice as needed. The freezer also has thoughtful design features, like sliding drawers that can help you sort your things. It also has a large bin that can hold plenty of frozen food items and an container for storing ice.

Another awesome feature of this refrigerator is its Smart InstaView panel. You can manage the temperature, lighting and more of your fridge from your smartphone. It's a great way to control and monitor your refrigerator, especially when you're away from home.

Although the Smart InstaView is a neat feature, it doesn't necessarily improve the overall performance of the refrigerator. In fact it took longer to defrost and chill foods in this refrigerator as compared to other fridges we tested. This could be due to its greater capacity.

The other issue we have with the doors of this refrigerator. They have handles that are sunken on the front that allow shorter people to easily pull them open from the bottom, but they're difficult for taller people to steer closed without slamming the doors.  french style fridge freezer  would have been much better to have front-mounted handles.

The LG Counter-Depth MAX is a ideal option for those looking to combine the advantages of a French-door refrigerator's aesthetics with a more efficient layout. Its capacity is above average for counter-depth models, and it cools evenly. It's also a little cheaper than the top counter-depth refrigerator that has an ice maker, which can make it a popular choice.

Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

This Frigidaire French door refrigerator is a good option if you want a French-door refrigerator that doesn't cost a lot of budget. It's a basic fridge which may not be as attractive as its rivals however it has enough features to make a good option. Its most significant feature, the adjustable temperature drawer helps to keep food like meat and vegetables fresher for longer. It also comes with a huge water dispenser as well as a good ice maker that operates quickly.

Another great feature is the "Chill Drawer" that sits over the two crisper bins. The drawer lets you use the majority of your fridge's cooling power to the area so it can be used to store food items that require special attention. You can adjust the feature using a slider that's located right on the outside of the drawer. You can also alter the general cooling settings for the entire fridge. I have found that the generic settings are more effective than the specific ones.

During my tests, I discovered that the temperatures of the refrigerator were fairly consistent across various parts of the fridge. The temperatures in the middle, top and bottom of the fridge didn't differ significantly from 38 degrees. This is a great performance, but it doesn't quite make it into the top ten in our ratings.

This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. This fridge can be paired with a smart thermostat in order to obtain more precise readings of the internal temperature of your fridge.

The exterior of the Frigidaire is made of gray-bodied stainless with a "smudge proof" finish. It repels fingerprints and streaks better than other stainless steel finishes I've tested.
